Dr Alex Barnes

Dr Barnes trained at Flinders Medical Centre and the Royal Adelaide Hospital, with an IBD fellowship year at Flinders Medical Centre where he currently practices. He previously trained and worked as a mechatronic engineer. He has completed a Masters of Public Health with the University of Newcastle. He has academic status with Flinders University. He has a special interest in acute severe colitis and bowel cancer surveillance in inflammatory bowel disease. He is currently undertaking a PhD at Flinders University, examining the significance and aetiology of sleep disorders, fatigue and mental health conditions in people with inflammatory bowel disease.
