Dr Darren Tonkin

Dr Tonkin is an experienced Colorectal Surgeon with an interest in the surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease, with an emphasis on minimally invasive approaches (both robotic and laparoscopic) where appropriate. Dr Tonkin completed his subspeciality colorectal training in 2007 at St Marks Hospital in London, where he gained quarternary level experience in the surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease and polyposis, intestinal failure and enterocutaneous fistula.
Dr Tonkin also has extensive experience in management of other colorectal disorders, such as cancer and diverticulitis, and has a special interest in abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia repair. He has developed a significant experience in robotic surgery over the past 5 years, with the greatest experience in SA of any general surgeon.
He currently heads the Colorectal Surgery Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and practices privately at Tennyson Centre, 480 Specialist Centre, Colorectal Surgery North Adelaide. Calvary North Adelaide, and Ashford Hospitals.
