Dr Peter Bampton

Dr Bampton was a founding committee member of IBD Australia, and set up the first IBD service in Adelaide at Flinders Medical Centre, employing one of the first IBD Nurses in Australia. Since that time he has also worked in the Royal Adelaide Hospital IBD service, as well as being Clinical Lead of Quality and Safety for Gastroenterology at the Royal Adelaide. Whilst leaving public hospital practice in 2020 to concentrate on the development of IBD SA and SA Group of Specialists, he continues in an academic role at Flinders University as Associate Professor of Gastroenterology within the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer. Over the last 10 years he has been a co-investigator in research projects that have attracted over $3.5 million in grant funding in areas such as colorectal cancer prevention, gut motility and inflammatory bowel disease.
