Dr Sam Edwards

Dr Sam Edwards graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He undertook physician training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, advanced training in gastroenterology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, then a fellowship at the Royal Free Hospital (London), with a focus on the clinical management of inflammatory bowel disease. He qualified as a gastroenterologist and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2006.
His special interests include
- management of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis),
- endoscopy,
- colonoscopy, and
- small bowel capsule endoscopy (PillCam).
Dr Edwards is involved with medical student and post-graduate teaching, as well as being on the drug advisory committee at Flinders Medical Centre.
Since then he has been working as a consultant gastroenterologist at Flinders Medical Centre where he is part of the multidisciplinary IBD team, which includes a weekly IBD clinic. He also works in private practice, consulting at Flinders Private Hospital, Morphett Vale (Southern Specialist Centre), Tennyson Centre, and Victor Harbor.
