There are a number of specialist gastroenterologist dietitians that work as part of the team at IBD SA, as it is critical for patients living with Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis to see a dietitian.
Even in the absence of a particular dietary therapy, good nutrition remains important in any chronic illness.
Our dietitians (and all practitioners at IBD SA) are trained in new and evolving dietary therapies, which can sometimes be overlooked as a treatment approach. Some of the available options include:
- Exclusive Enteral Nutrition (EEN)
- Partial Enteral Nutrition with the Crohn’s Disease Exclusion Diet (PEN-CDED)
Other diets for post-inflammatory irritability of the bowel (such as the FODMAP diet) can also be very useful in IBD.
