The benefits of an IBD Nurse Specialist
The management and treatment of a complex disease like Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis requires an expert level of knowledge and care. A dedicated IBD Nurse Specialist can provide this for you, so having one as part of your care team is important.
Living with inflammatory bowel disease can be challenging. Sometimes you might need urgent advice, especially if experiencing a flare of your Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis.
What does an IBD Nurse Specialist do?
An IBD Nurse Specialist can provide education if you are newly diagnosed, ongoing advice, assist in the organisation of biological therapies and arrange urgent appointments and treatments if needed.
They are also a point of contact for advice over the phone, in person or via email.
Does IBD SA have IBD Nurse Specialists?
IBD SA employs two dedicated IBD Nurse Specialists. They work closely with the Gastroenterologists and IBD team to provide care and support for patients. IBD SA is the only private practice in South Australia, and one of few nationally, that employ IBD Nurse Specialists.
