Dr Abdul Shaikh
Dr Abdul Shaikh is a consultant gastroenterologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Western hospital. He has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Graduating from Baqai Medical University in Pakistan in 2004, he came to Australia in 2007 to further his medical training. He trained in gastroenterology at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Royal Adelaide hospital. In 2020 Dr Shaikh was the IBD fellow at Royal Adelaide Hospital. In 2021 he was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Dr Abdul Shaikh has an interest in evaluating the role of diet in IBD and is pursuing research in this area at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He is also actively involved in the clinical trials unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, offering people with IBD alternatives to conventional treatment. As well as this, he consults as part of the multi-disciplinary team at IBD SA.
Apart from IBD, he is also interested in general gastroenterology and hepatology and is accredited to perform endoscopy and colonoscopy.
