Dr Alex Barnes

Gastroenterologist

Dr Alex Barnes is a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. He has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and bowel cancer surveillance. Other interests include endoscopy, colonoscopy and irritable bowel syndrome. Dr Alex Barnes graduated from Flinders University in 2013 before undertaking an IBD fellowship at Flinders Medical Centre. He has completed a PhD at Flinders University, examining the significance of sleep in people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Dr Barnes trained at Flinders Medical Centre and the Royal Adelaide Hospital and has academic status at Flinders University. He previously trained and worked as a mechatronic engineer.
